Over 3,000 people turned out for an annual ‘Big Event’ at Pudsey Civic Hall, Leeds, in celebration of the work undertaken by St. Anne’s Community Services.
Focusing its care on the needs and individual aspirations of vulnerable groups, St. Anne’s offers support in the north of England to people with mental health issues or learning disabilities, the homeless and anyone with drug or alcohol problems.
Face-painting, exotic dancers and music, tile mosaic making, donkey rides and fine food; all contributed to making it a day to remember.
Also on hand was one of our Comments Campervans welcoming visitors on-board to capture the views of both the cared-for and their carers, giving everyone the chance to make personal comments on film and so contribute towards policy making decisions and improved service provision.
Stepping eagerly aboard for a chat was St. Anne’s Chief Executive, Sharon Allen, who gave us an insightful view of her personal ambitions for St.Anne’s, together with local MP, John Battle, who offered his own enthusiastic views for an inclusive society.
Making the day for many ‘soap’ enthusiasts (including our film crew member Danielle!) Nick Miles, Emmerdale businessman Jimmy King, signed autographs and also chatted on film about our shared enthusiasm for freely supporting such a worthwhile organisation on their special day.
